“Together in Jesus Christ, growing in God’s mission to the World, in the Power of the Holy Spirit”

The start of a journey

CHS was birthed out of a movement of the Holy Spirit at the Anglican St John’s Parish, Wynberg, in which many were deeply touched and empowered by a new or fresh experience of the Holy Spirit.

In 1999, God called a group of worshippers to start a new expression of an Anglican Church that would be informal, evangelical, with charismatic and contemporary worship, and seek to meet the needs of the poor and socially deprived of all cultures.

This is summed up in our vision statement, “Christ-centred, Bible-based, Spirit-led”.

  • A Christ-centered life begins with realizing that the source of everything we are is Jesus (2 Peter 1:3), and committing to walking our lives in relationship with Him (Phil 3:10).

  • We believe that the bible is the holy, inspired word of God, bringing relevant guidance and speaking truth into our lives today 2 Tim 3:16-17)

  • We believe that we are led, equipped and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live for Jesus (Romans 8:12-17).

Who we are

We are a diverse, multicultural, intergenerational church family with members from all walks of life. Our prayer is to create a unique space where all can meet on level ground before God, forming relationships across economic and cultural barriers.

Our vision is to be a church open to all throughout the week, bringing support and transformation to the lives of our community. We imagine a safe and welcoming home to bring people together, a resourcing harbour for outreach into the community, a linking hub to connect people and ministries, and overall a holy place where all can encounter the living God.

We encourage this through our lives and facilitate this practically through the CHS LIFE CENTRE, on a day-to-day basis.

We are a pioneering, missional church who aim to be Bible-based, Jesus-centred, and Holy Spirit-led.

  • We want to be a linking hub to connect people and ministries across our context.
